Hi everyone!

It's a beautiful spring Melbourne day and I'm going to head out for lunch on the water, what a great idea....

We are busy as one armed paperhangers as my mum used to say - SO fantastic and I'm very excited that our marketing is working so well and the buzz is on in both of our salons :)

It's hard running a business and even harder to run a successful one, but nothing in life is worth having unless you've strived for it, the satisfaction of knowing you've overcome challenges is better than any drug for a natural high! Maintaining your belief in yourself is tough but at 50 I figure it's time to trust my instincts and 'shut out the noise' as a friend always tells me.

My pic today is of my beautiful Billie girl - a nearly 19 year old member of our family who is getting a little crazy but still is the sweetest pet you could ever have. Every Christmas we wonder if we'll have her for the next one but she just keeps on keeping on! Hoping number 19 is coming up! Our furry babies give us truly unconditional love and I wouldn't be without it.

Our current favourite treatment is our Green Tea scrub and wrap, a lovely detox especially when you add a session in the infrared sauna and drink our specially blended detox tea. It's time to get your skin really exfoliated ready for the summer and add a spray tan to give you a glow until you get the natural colour going, and remember to stay out of the sun in the middle of the day!

New ranges of body products coming soon along with a range of wellness products to help you feel great inside as well as outside. Get out your colourful summer clothes, a pair of strappy sandals and head out to enjoy the weather, heaven knows we've waited long enough for it this year!

Hi all!

Well with any luck the little bit of sunshine we had last week is the sign of things to come! I know this has been the longest winter ever - lucky for me I'm heading to Malaysia next week for some well earned rest so I'll be complaining about the heat next!

The expo is over and it's time to get ready for the springtime madness that is beauty therapy. We've shaken things up, introduced a new skincare line - Emergin C Scientific Organics - and are ready to face the rush of September and all things spring.

Melbourne is so interesting in the spring, it's as if the whole city has been hibernating and once the sun comes out they leave their caves and get back into the world! We'll be waiting to put some life into your skin, brighten your complexion and get some zing back into your body.

It's all about relaxation and renewal at Essendon and we have introduced some really snazzy new treatments using the benefits of green tea and our infrared sauna for detoxifying and cleansing your body from the inside out!

Hi everyone!
Well what an exciting and busy month I've had, which is why I've been tardy in updating my blog! Promise not to be so slack in the future :)

Aqua Spa Retreat at Essendon is settling into winter with lots of lovely massages, saunas and facials in our cosy spa. We have some gorgeous new products including the most amazing scented candles from The Candle Tree - I've seen a lot of candles in my time but these are the best quality and strongest fragrance filled ones I've ever smelled. They have a huge range of scents, the vanilla is a highlight, along with lemon grass for those citrus lovers.

We are also supplying Le Reve products through the spa, including their high quality and potent aromatherapy oils, with perfumes to come!

I was pleased to be featured as the Real Women of the Month on the fab Real Women site, owned by Janine - a great example of a successful female who represents the real women of the world! Check out the website for tons of fun and useful info, shopping tours and much more.

On a personal note, I've just arrived home from Launceston and now appreciate that Melbourne really isn't the coldest place this winter :) Lovely period homes and a quiet place to live, but I was happy to be home and off the Spirit of Tasmania after a rather rocky cruise home! My gorgeous son was playing badminton there (that's him above) in a National tournament and believe me, only supporting him would have got me to such a cold place mid winter :)

MOTHER'S DAY 9th MAY

Well it's officially Autumn! Cool nights and freezing mornings have begun and it's time to start looking after yourself. The colder weather and overheated environments play havoc with your skin so make an appointment to get a strategy in place to make it through winter looking as gorgeous as you did in summer!

I had a wonderful time visiting family and Sydney and meeting my newest family member, Mabel Beth and catching up with the growing boys William and Christian. Sadly my darling mother nursing me as a baby (above) has left us but I think of her every day.

It's also time to remember your Mum and all she does and has done for you in your life. Until you are a mum yourself you really don't realise just how hard it is and all mothers are deserving of a wonderful treat! I highly recommend the Massage for Mum which uses hot stones to massage and is a real luxury.

Time to network again this week with a lunch at the Women's Network Australia in Melbourne. I always enjoy these opportunities to meet with like minded business women, it's a great chance to hear wonderful speakers and enjoy a great meal at the CQ Hotel.

Hi everyone, hope you are ready for another busy week! The weather in Melbourne is finally cooling down but we've had such a beautiful summer this year it's quite sad to see it end.

I had to do one of my most dreaded things, get a photo done! As you can see Kaye Wright from Affinity Photography did the best she could with a bad subject :) I needed to get an up to date pic for an article that may be published in a magazine, will let you know if it goes ahead!

I wonder how many of us hate getting their picture taken as much as I do. Mine stems from the many awful ''candid'' shots that exist of me, at least when you get a professional to take the shot you end up with something you are happy with.

As the weather cools our infrared sauna gets busier so if you need a lovely ''de stress'' I'd really recommend some sessions in this lovely sauna. It's nothing like the saunas of old, no steam or uncomfortable overheating, the infrared heat is gentle and you detox so much more effectively in less time. Read more about it here. It's particularly enjoyable and effective when combined with a massage and we have great offers if you book both together.

I have lots of lovely family and baby time coming up with a new arrival and visits from others this week. I have been going through 'baby withdrawal' lately so am looking forward to lots of cuddles. When your family is far away you really miss watching them growing up!

Back on the business front I went to a great networking event that brought business and community groups together and was fortunate to meet Jeremy Maxwell from the Victorian Epilepsy Foundation and Janita Friend from the Make a Wish Foundation. I so admire those who make helping others their career and hope to help in some small way in the future. My son has epilepsy so it is particularly close to my heart and I think we all know some little one who has suffered with a life threatening illness - Make a Wish do amazing things for children and their families when they have a serious illness. All power to them!

A quickie blog tonight to let you know our beautiful Essendon spa Aqua Spa Retreat has won another great Business Award! WOMOW is a terrific site that rates businesses by asking clients to enter scores and comments about their experiences at workplaces all around Australia. They award their best rated businesses every year.

The really exciting thing is that we came in first as the BEST Day Spa in Melbourne, pretty great hey! We try hard to make our spa a beautiful experience so it's lovely to know that our clients have taken the time to let others know.
Busy week ahead, our Friends of Fitzroy campaign is continuing to let all the lovely Fitzroy locals know that we offer them fabulous specials at the Skincare Retreat in Brunswick St (Cnr Victoria St)

Hi everyone!

Well it's been a completely busy and fantastic time getting our new website http://www.aquaskincareretreat.com.au/ up and running for our Fitzroy salon!

Thank you to Liam, Mel, Michael, Paula, Tony and Veronica for their contributions to what I think is an amazing website.

I have also updated our spa site, http://www.aquasparetreat.com.au/ with some fun and funky new photos - lots of great treatments to look at! I've highlighted the fact that we welcome guys to our spa, sometimes they aren't sure whether they can come but of course we LOVE our male clients and would love to see many more.

We've also been busy tweaking procedures at the spa so we can be even more efficient and effective in how we run the spa and look after our precious clients. No matter how good your business is there are always ways to improve, and I always look for that extra service that will leave our clients feeling fantastic, and excited about coming back.

I'm enjoying our facial peels at the moment and the great results you get from having them regularly, I highly recommend it. If you can improve my 50 year old face then there's hope for all of us :)

Hi all!

It's been a busy time getting our videos filmed ready to add to our website for your viewing pleasure :) Thanks to the lovely Michael from M.I Film Productions and his gorgeous models Veronica and Tony, I'll soon be able to add the links here and on the website so you can see some of what happens when you lie back and close your eyes.....

As you can see I've just added a fab new sign to my car - I was happy to find Mediapoint, a local Sunshine business that did a great job at a good price, my favourite! Give me a wave if you see me flying along the Tulla Freeway.

I'm looking forward to all the staff being back on deck next week - plus stay tuned for an exciting new online booking system coming soon to our spa! More on that later....

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all - hope you survived the silly season and made lots of resolutions you probably won't keep but are fun to make anyway!

We reopened on the 5th of January to SO many messages and clients we were amazed and thrilled. It's been one of our busiest weeks ever which shows we made the right choice not closing during this period, as so many other salons do. We'll continue to do this every year so you all can get your treatments in this busy period.

After a quick visit to Sydney I'm back and ready to get stuck into 2010 - we're going to add some great stuff to our website including videos of our treatments so you can get an idea of what actually happens when your eyes are closed and are relaxing in our day spa. Our newest peels are proving a big hit but it might help to see what that's all about so you know what to expect.

I'm a big fan, turning 50 can be challenging but at least I know my skin is looking at its best after a series of Epicure peels. They get rid of all the surface dullness and even fine lines disappear and the deeper ones get less noticeable. Pretty amazing all around.

Looking forward to a photography session to show our spa at its best, we've made so many changes it's time to show the world :)

Happy Christmas everyone!

Can't believe it's only days away and even though we're busy as one armed paper hangers at the spa it still has come way too quickly!

Happy to say my shopping is done, hope you are sorted soon too, the malls are getting pretty crazy now. We're selling lots of lovely spa vouchers so looking forward to meeting many new clients in 2010 and helping them all relax and de-stress after the silly season.

We have lots of new and exciting plans for next year including a complete revamp of our website, some great new treatments and short and sweet solutions for our busy clients.

Our newest range of products - Epicure - is proving to be a great success with all our lovely clients so don't forget to pick up some samples next time you're in - they smell absolutely gorgeous and feel even better!

For all those who are having treatments this week look forward to a little Chrissie present and on Christmas Eve, a champagne or two.

We're open between Christmas and New Year and back to work on Tuesday 5th January ready to redeem those vouchers.

Looking forward to celebrating a great 2009 with my fantastic staff on Monday and seeing what Santa has brought.

Hi everyone, hope you're having a great Sunday!

This has been a really great week with lots of Christmas Vouchers going to lovely homes, such organised people this year! Having said that I've done nearly all my Chrissie shopping already but that's because Christmas is always such a mad time for us I need to be done early!

Going to Malaysia was a big help, managed to get such great pressies over there - what an amazing place it was, can't wait to go back.

Have been to some terrific networking events lately, learning lots of new things about business is always useful and it's great to share ideas with other business owners. The Christmas event for the Women's Network of Australia was lots of fun. We had a table and showed off our newest skincare products Epicure Cosmeceuticals and the ladies really enjoyed chatting to Natalie, the owner of Epicure, about their skincare regimes. Plus they got lots of sample to take home which we all love! There is always a great group of women at these events and the venue, CQ Function Centre, always puts on a lovely lunch. It's a very sweet boutique hotel right in Queen St, well worth a look.

The other function I attended last week was at the Docklands with the Nationwide Networking Group. What an interesting area it is down there, but why is it so quiet?? It's quite eerie to see all these bars and restaurants open and ready for business but hardly a soul to be seen. Sort of like after a nuclear bomb, very odd!

Our speaker was great, Steve Sammartino of Rentoid and Startup School - a very interesting business that acts as a go between for people wanting to hire and hire out all sorts of items. Check it out, it's a great way to make some cash in a hurry.
